Archive files are those files which contain one or more files along with their data. We use archives in Windows to collect multiple files into a single file for easier portability and storage. These are simply compressed files to use less storage space. But, what if we get corrupted these files and then how to repair corrupted Archive Files in windows?
It’s quite common to come across a corrupt Archive File when we download these files from the Internet with low speed or interrupted Internet connection. We can download the files again and it may resolve the issue, but if redownload is not possible, then what we’ll do?
7zip Can't Open As Archive
Whenever Archive Files get corrupt, we receive some onscreen errors. Some of them could be like the following:
What is the file extension? Is it a.torrent or a.zip or.rar file or something else? If it's an archive file, e.g.zip or.rar, you need a program to unzip it. I recommend 7Zip. If you downloaded a.torrent file then you haven't actually downloaded anything, yet. A.torrent file is just a pointer to the actual file, you cannot unzip it! I cannot open rar files I have windows 7 and accidentally click open with and selected adobe reader 9, since that I could not open them any more. I downloded winzip because it was recomended to open this files but it did not work so I uninstalled it. If on Linux, type: file filename.rar and it will tell you what kind of file it is. Also, in case the files were packed with Rar/Winrar5, 7zip can't handle them.
- “Cannot open file: it does not appear to be a valid archive”.
- “File Path: Either multipart or corrupt ZIP archive”.
- Error Message: “Header Corrupt” while opening a .zip file.
- “WinZip self-extractor header corrupt”.
- ZIP file corrupt error when using Response. Binary Write.
- Unexpected end of the archive.
Then we have to look for methods to repair Archive Files. In this blog, we’ll show you 3 ways to repair Archive Files whether it’s damaged, corrupted or partially downloaded.
Method 1: Repair Corrupted or Damaged Archive Files Using WinRAR
If we don’t have a licensed version of WinRAR, we can download a free version which gives us about 40 days to try it out.
Step 1. Right-click on your corrupted Archive File and select “Open with WinRAR” from the context menu.
Step 2. After opening WinRAR, click on the “Tools” menu and select “Repair archive”.

Step 3. Click the “Browse” button to select the destination location to save the extract. Leave the archive type as it is and click “OK”.
Step 4. After finishing the repairing of Archive File by WinRAR, click the “Close” button.
We’ll see a repaired archive created in the same folder as the corrupted archive.
Method 2: Extract Broken Archive Files
Above solution may not be the permanent solution in some cases, and after repairing the Archive files it may still say that the files are inaccessible. Then we can attempt to extract the content in the RAR/ZIP archive. There is an option in WinRAR to extract broken files using which we can actually extract the broken or corrupt files ignoring all the errors, whatever error it is. Now follow the steps:
Step 1. Double-click on corrupted Archive Files to open it in WinRAR, then Click on “Extract to” in the toolbar at the top.
Step 2. Choose the destination folder where you want to extract the files, and most importantly, we have to check the “Keep broken files” option under the “Miscellaneous” section.
Step 3. Call of duty modern warfare website. Click on OK and wait until the files are extracted. Finally, we have all the files present in our RAR/ZIP archive.

Cannot Open Archive File
I had downloaded two files one a rar of about 2.23 gb and the other a multipart 7z archive of about 8.73 gb. I was really sad when both were corrupted after trying to extract it once it downloaded. Both archives had minor problems the rar had a corrupt header and the 7z archive looked fine but 7zip cannot open a.7z as archive. The multipart 7z archive has three parts. I tried all repair tools but each one only previewed the repairable archives and does not save the repaired archive in the demo version, so please please can you all tell me a repair tool that at least repairs and saves the archive for free without buying the full version I want to know if it works. Help will be deeply appreciated.
